KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN DOG TRAINING SCHEME
This is for ANYONE wishing to practice for their Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards.
All exercises you need to achieve each of the Awards. These are worked over as many weeks as you may require, it is NOT compulsory to take the test but this will be made available to you every few months.
Please note you cannot take a more advanced test until you have the prior certificate.
A Rosette and Certificate is presented to everyone passing each award with disks also available to purchase, all testing is undertaken by independent KC approved judges who are totally independent of the club.

£5 per dog (per class) or £6 for two dogs (Payable on the night) Please note with two dogs, will need one handler per dog
Course Criteria:
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award aims to produce a dog that will walk and
behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow its
owner to clean, groom and examine it, a dog that will walk and behave in a happy natural manner,
under control on the lead. The dog must also be able to be positioned by its handler for examination i.e. stand, sit or lie down on either side or on its back, all on the
lead. The dog must come to hand when called.
The Bronze award aims to provide the handlers with a basic knowledge of understanding and training their companion.

Course Criteria:
The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Silver Award aims to build upon the skills learned for the Bronze Award whilst increasing the level of difficulty.
The Silver Award is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as controlled greetings, road walk and control in a vehicle, exercises which are important in everyday life situations.
The Silver Award aims to provide handlers with a good knowledge of understanding and training for their canine companion.

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Gold Award is the highest level of achievement of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme.
It builds upon the skills learnt for the Bronze and Silver Awards and develops more advance training skills for the dog and handler.
The Gold Award is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as relaxed isolation, the stop command and send the dog to a specified spot i.e., bed or blanket, which are practical for every day life situations.The Gold Award aims to provide handlers with a greater knowledge and understanding of their canine companion. Dogs that are awarded a Gold Certificate should reach the required standards in all exercises and be a worthy representative of the Scheme’s highest standard.
